Tired of reading the EEPROM with the programmer, it was easier just to read it with software and store the file. Where did I say that I was cracking the software we are distributing? On the other hand, you claimed: "I wrote the reader after I had upgraded Altera with which they supplied me with a new dongle. And yet in this new post of yours, you keep implying that once again. The rudeness of your comments comes from your assumtion of me or my company practicing any illegal activity. We had many issues with schools for this reason, to a point where these dongles where actually stored inside the computer with a USB extension cable going from the external USB port inside the case. For there the USB dongles goes to the trash. The biggest risk of USB dongles, by the way, is that they are mistaken for USB disks and are stolen for that purpose! The person stealing it thinks it is a USB memory and when it doesn't work as such, they think it is broken and that this was the reason it was left behind. So it is understandable that a company goes that route. While this is kind of "amateur hour" stuff, such a dongle costs probably around 1-2 Euro and is still quite effective. To make them "unique" you can use for instance use setup tools to configure the microcontroller and create read only partitions or set the drive capacity to some odd number which would be difficult to obtain with a standard dongle.

the HASP dongle is only in the laptop PC to run PRP 1079B for Puma/FC3000 or PRP 1095B for VS4000 mobile, USB cable for Puma, LAN cable for VS4000 and serial RS232 cable for FC3000.That is probably not even a real dongle but rather a modified USB disk drive! Some companies, not wanting to spend real money on real dongles, resorted to USB drives. I can confirm that I was dealing with mobile VS4000, handheld Puma T3Plus and desk console FC3000, using the PRP software and all accessories 9dongles, manuals, etc.) as quoted in different posts throughout this thread and I did this exactly the way I described above - i.e. I know that I can dump the dongle, but unfortunately I don't have access to it anymore. Are you sure that you have had experience with console radio, but not regular mobile radio? But I definably saw it when FC3000-FPG3 was programmed.

But I can mix up things and there are some chances that it was upgrade dongle, used to enable some options like DMO Gateway / Repeater. But I can't recall any details and could be wrong. Technical guy used some rear plug to do to that and he said something like "it's very simple thing with short" or something like this. But I've seen how these console radios are programmed. PRP software will then be able to see your Puma radio and will show it in the Radio Programming menu at the matching COM port number.Īlso, programming Puma radio via USB is pretty quick on the contrary to the programming via serial connection. After they are installed, connect your Puma T3Plus to PC, wait for Windows to identify new device on new COM port.

They can be found in the Web with no problems.

You will also need USB drivers that work with Puma - this is Silicon Lab CP210x USB to UART Bridge for Windows XP/2003/Vista/7. You can use that port for connection to your PC's standard USB port. I dealt with Puma T3Plus model, which has Mini-USB port on the side of the body. Besides, I doubt very much that you can easily find this type of connector free on the market. Puma T3Plus can use either serial cable (plugs into your PC COM port), but radio side of the cable is a proprietary plug to the bottom of the radio.
